CHAPTER 11

WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL NEEDS OF MY BUSINESS?

So far, all I have done is to sharpen my thoughts about my future business; what will I sell? Who will I sell to? How big is my market and where is it located? What form will my business take? Logical and necessary as these considerations are, they form, in fact, my business' conceptual foundation. Now I have reached the point of listing what is actually required to start and run my business, I must choose and make decisions about different ways to set up and run my business. Among the various alternatives open to me, it is important that I make informed and knowledgeable decisions about the specific details relating to how I will start and eventually run my business. All my eventual choices will be made in the light of what I have learned so far about this type of business, the type of customer I have defined and the practices of my competitors, especially the successful ones, as I do not necessarily want to reinvent the wheel.

The following checklist will provide me with alternatives and my decisions will be made according to the information I have, so far, gathered and written down. However, there might be limitations only I am aware of, which might affect my choices. I might have to choose between cost and function on equipment or machinery, or between renting or buying to house my business. This is why I need the following checklist.

On the following pages, I will be provided with choices on housing the business, the equipment and machinery I will need, advertising and promotion, purchases, service, delivery, etc.
